Home News Big science, big questions and a Peak District adventure!

Our final-year Wildlife Ecology and Conservation (WEC) students have just returned from exploring field scale responses to the climate and biodiversity crises: from the biggest forestry climate change experiment in the northern hemisphere at BIFoR FACE, to Buxton Climate Change Impacts Lab, theworld’s longest running grassland climate change experiment, to moorland restoration with Moors for the Future, to award winning urban greening at Sheffield’s Grey to Green and rewilding landscapes at Thornhill Carrs reserve .

Along the way, they looked beyond the science to explore the project management that turns ecological ambition into action. Scientists across our visits praised the students’ knowledge and thoughtful questions. Well done WEC students you kept the science conversations flowing! A huge thank you to our hosts for sharing their expertise and enthusiasm.
