Each subject area has its own requirements for clothing and PPE that must be worn. Please select your subject area below for information on the items you need to obtain.

Please note, if you require a white lab coat this can be sourced from any supplier – it does not have to be bought exclusively from creative images.

Agriculture

Equipment List

At the start of your course, you will need the following essential items:

  • Steel toe-capped boots
  • Overalls
  • Wellies
  • Lab coat (white)
  • Optional wet-weather gear

Animal Science and Zoo Biology

First Years:

Equine Science and Performance Management

All students are required to have specific clothing, which must be worn whilst at the Equine Centre.

The following items are mandatory to be purchased from JS Teamwear:

  • 1 x polo shirt – purchased from the above supplier
  • 1 x ¼ zip sweatshirt – purchased from the above supplier

The following items are highly recommended to be purchased from JS Teamwear :

  • Waterproof coat – purchased from the above supplier
  • A base layer – choice of round neck or ¼ zip purchased from the above supplier

The following items are optional to be purchased from JS Teamwear:

  • Headwear – Bobble hat, beanie, cap
  • Hoodie (can be worn on campus, at the Equine Centre, but not whilst riding)

As part of the Equine Centre policy, students must have the following essential items:

  • Riding hat meeting current approved standard
  • Dark coloured plain jodhpurs/breeches
  • Long leather/rubber riding boots (black or brown) or jodhpur boots and leather gaiters/half chaps for riding (please note, suede and canvas chaps or Dubarry or similar boots are not permitted for riding)
  • Appropriate coloured yard footwear when not riding (trainers are not permitted at the Equine Centre)
  • Body protector meeting current BS1 Standard (compulsory for all jumping, if students choose to jump later in the year)
  • Plain coloured riding gloves
  • Hairnets for those with long/layered hair
  • 1 x schooling whip – plain dark colour
  • 1 x jumping whip – plain dark colour
  • Suitable waterproof clothing for the yard

In addition, all students must have a white lab coat for laboratory sessions. This can be purchased from a variety of outlets (for example, Amazon). However, creative images also stock these: Creative Images website

Strictly no jewellery/any piercings (including stud earrings) allowed at any time whilst at the Equine Centre

Compulsory:

Waterproof and warm outdoor clothing, suitable for practical work and fieldwork
